What it means

All eighteen clubs travel to the host city. The "home" club is in name only.

Why it exists

By design, Gather RoundThe round in which every game is played in one host city. Every club appears once.Read more in the glossary gives no club a home-ground advantage.

For example

Adelaide and Port Adelaide still play in their home city, but neither counts a Gather Round game as an ordinary home game.

How strictly it applies

Must-follow The fixture must obey this rule. A separate checker tests the finished fixture afterwards.

Must-follow. A Gather Round appearance sits outside each club's eleven home and eleven away games.
